In the afternoon of September 28, a cadre adjustment briefing was held at the School of Software Engineering (SSE). Xie Zhengxue, Vice Chair of the University Committee, and all current faculty and staff of the SSE attended the meeting. The event was presided over by Gu Yuanfei, Executive Deputy Minister of the Organization Department of the University Party Committee.
Gu Yuanfei announced the university’s decision regarding the appointment of the Dean of the SSE: BaiXiang has been appointed as theDean of the SSE, relieving Comrade Li Guohui of the position.
Li Guohui fondly recalled his years working at the SSE, expressing gratitude for the support and assistance from his colleagues over the past five years. He whole heartedly endorsed the university’s decision, pledged full support for Dean BaiXiang’s work, and committed to carry out his responsibilities, contributing to the SSE’s development.
During his address, Dean BaiXiang expressed his determination to undertake the responsibility of promoting the SSE’s development. He emphasized the continuation of strong teaching practices, addressing research gaps, and focusing on the development of system software, industrial software, and intelligent software to propel the school to new heights.
Wang Shixian,Secretary of the Party Committee of SSE, stated firm support for the decision of the University Party Committee. He conveyed heartfelt thanks to Li Guohui for his contributions to the SSE and admired his initiative in introducing national high-level talents to lead the rapid development of the school. On behalf of all faculty and students, he extended a warm welcome and congratulations to Dean BaiXiang, expressing full support for his work. Together with Dean BaiXiang, the entire faculty and students are committed to a “second entrepreneurship,”aiming to expedite the school’s transformation and upgrade, striving to build a first-class SSE.
In his address, Xie Zhengxue emphasized that the University Party Committee and the administration attach great importance to the development of the SSE and the building of leadership team. The recent appointment of the dean was a carefully considered decision made for the overall development of the SSE. He praised Li Guohui for his political acumen, holistic perspective, dedication, and leadership. In the face of the SSE’s new development orientation in the new era, Li Guohui voluntarily stepped aside and allowed outstanding young comrades to take the lead. This fully show cased his valuable qualities of being highly responsible for the Party’s educational endeavors and the development of the SSE. Xie expressed confidence in BaiXiang’s clear work philosophy, youthful vigor, and high academic standards. He hoped that BaiXiang could live up to the expectations of the University Party Committee, faculty, staff, and students. Anchoring in a new development direction, consolidating new development momentum, and exploring innovative paths, we trust that, together with Comrade Wang Shixian, BaiXiang will lead the school in accelerating its development.
In addition, Xie Zhengxue provided three key suggestions for the recent work of the school. First, he encouraged the school to align with the grand goals of the nation and serve its strategic needs, emphasizing interdisciplinary integration and highlighting disciplinary characteristics. Second, he emphasized that we must uphold the compassion for nurturing talents and enhance the quality of talent cultivation. The school should prioritize moral and intellectual education, deepen education and teaching reforms, and continually improve a talent cultivation system that produces high-level, versatile, and innovative individuals, who are capable of shouldering the responsibilities of national rejuvenation. Third, he urged the school to adhere to the strategy of both cultivating and introducing talents, and build a strong and competent teaching staff. The strategy of strengthening the institution through talent should be persisted. The school should focus on elevating the overall quality of independently cultivated talents, attracting, training and utilizing various talents, and constructing a high-quality, professional teaching staff characterized by high moral standards expertise, rational structure, and vitality.
