I. Introduction

The School of Software Engineering is one of the first 35 National Model Software Institute in China. Established in 2002, HUST-SSE has adhered to the fundamental task of cultivating students’ character and actively promoted the leapfrog development of software talent training in our country. The school has explored the reform of training models in line with national strategic needs, industrial development trends, and technological frontiers, forming a distinctive talent training system that covers undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students. It has cultivated a large number of excellent software talents. Students have won numerous gold awards in international and domestic competitions such as “Internet +” , “Challenge Cup,” and “China College Students’ Entrepreneurship Competition”. Graduates have emerged as a group of entrepreneurial stars, with several alumni being listedin the “30 Under 30 Entrepreneurs”in Forbes List and “Hurun Rich lists”. The school has made positive contributions to promoting the development of China’s software industry and to boost China’s strength in manufacturing, cyberspace, and digital development.. It was awarded the title of “Top 10 Software Colleges with the Most Employment Competitiveness in China” on its tenth anniversary.

The world is currently experiencing profound changes unseen in a century. A new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation has brought great changes to human development. We are in the era of “everything is interconnected and everything is programmable, where software defines everything”. Hence, it is crucial to improve our self-reliance and strength on software engineering, cultivate high-quality innovative talents, and promote the growth in China’s software industry. This will enhance the technological innovation and supply capacity in key basic software as well as large-scale industrial software field. It is the new mission bestowed upon the SSE in this new era.

II. Recruitment Field

i.Recruitment Position

Professor (researcher), associate professor (associate researcher), lecturer.

ii.Research Interests

Including but not limited to:

Key basic software: Operating Systems, Databases, Compilers, Middlewares, etc;

Software Engineering and Computational Intelligence: Emerging Computing Architecture and Software Technology, Machine Learning and Deep Learning, Data Science and Big Data Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing (NLP), etc;

Industrial Software: Embedded Software & Systems, Industrial Internet, Blockchain, Computer-Aided X (CAX), etc

iii.General Requirements

1. Possess good ideological and political qualities, abide by the Constitutionand laws and both physically and mentally healthy.

2. Have a passion for education, possess good professional ethics and teachers’ manner, and abide by academic standards.

3. Applicants for associate professor (or associate researcher)and beloware generally required to be under 35 years old. Fresh Ph.D. graduates or postdocs are required to have published papers in top academic journals or conferences listed by the China Computer Federation. Applicants for associate professor are required to have led national project and published multiple high-quality papers in domestic or international journals. Applicants for associate researcher should have substantial experience in leading or contributing as a key member in research programs of large-scale industrial software, and the developed software systemshould have successful implementation within enterprises or industries, resulting in tangible economic benefits or positive impacts.

4.Applicants for professor (or researcher) are generally requiredto be under 45 years old. Applicants should possess strongacademic and training experiences in world-class universities, scientific research institutions at home and abroad, or leading technology companies’ research institutions. Applicants should have achieved prominent academic achievements in the field with good academic potential and innovative abilities.Alternatively, applicants may have led projects focused on developing large-scale industrial software that have made substantial and noteworthy impacts on the industry.

5.Applicants with outstanding academic achievements or remarkable educational backgrounds may be granted flexibility in terms of age or requirements regarding study and work experience.

6.Applicants of National or Provincial Talent Plan will receive special treatment and support conditions; For those who possess a doctorate or post-doctoral experience fromrenowned foreign universities, or qualified for the Talent Plan may be eligible for the relaxation of certain academic and age requirements.

iv.Treatment and Support Conditions

1.HUST-SSE provides competitive salaries for introduced talents.

2.Fordifferent position (and job title), HUST will provide research start-up funds and settle-in allowance.
