In the afternoon of January 9, 2025, the School of Software Engineering (SSE) hosted its second round of guidance meeting to improve National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) applications at Enming Building. Dean Prof. Bai Xiang, Assistant Dean Prof. Guo Lianbo, and all faculty members attended the event.

The session featured expert guidance from leading scholars, including: Prof. Chen Shaoping from the College of Electronics and Information, South-Central Minzu University; Prof. Wang Qian, Executive Dean at School of Cyber Science and Engineering, Wuhan University; Prof. Wu Libing from the School of Cyber Science and Engineering, Wuhan University; Prof. Pan Linqiang and Prof. Su Housheng from the School of Artificial Intelligence and Automation, HUST; and Prof. Zheng Bolong from the School of Computer Science and Technology, HUST.

Dean Prof. Bai Xiang warmly welcomed the attending experts and expressed heartfelt gratitude for their participation. He underscored the pivotal role of the NSFC in advancing academic research and technological innovation. Calling for proactive engagement, he encouraged faculty members to seize expert mentorship opportunities, rigorously refine their proposals based on feedback, and strive for outstanding results in the upcoming grant cycle.

Faculty members including Li Minghui, Tang He, Wang Jing, Wang Lei, Huang Yu, and Lu Yongzhong presented their proposed NSFC applications, covering research background, research content, methodological frameworks, innovative features, and preliminary research foundations. Experts provided targeted feedback on the presentations, emphasizing improvements in topic originality, research components, feasibility of experimental designs, and grant-writing strategies. The experts pointed out that a high-quality application requires in-depth exploration, continuous refinement, and full commitment. It is essential to distill the core scientific issues, clarify the logic between research contents, and demonstrate the feasibility of the research plan and technical approach.

Dean Prof. Bai Xiang expressed his sincere gratitude to the experts for their guidance. He said that the college will continue to promote the fund application work, create a strong research atmosphere, and strive to achieve more breakthroughs in the application for NSFC projects in 2025.
