On December 28, the subforum of the 13th East Lake International Forum for Outstanding Overseas Young Scholars was held online and offline at the School of Software Engineering (SSE). Eight outstanding young scholars from the US, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong, Beijing, and other areas were invited to the event. Other attendees include SSE leaders, department heads, youth teachers, and postgraduate representatives.

Wang Shixian, Chair of the SSE Committee, extends a warm welcome to all the young scholars. He presents an overview of SSE, including its discipline building, post offering and qualification, and preferential policies offered by HUST and SSE for outstanding overseas young scholars. After that, he sincerely invites them to join SSE. He hopes the forum will help promote academic exchange and mutual understanding between SSE and young scholars. Young scholars can leverage the school’s resources to apply for talent programs, which means they can not only pursue academic excellence but also contribute to the school’s development.
Later, all invited scholars deliver thematic presentations respectively, in which they introduce their educational background, work experiences, representative academic achievements, and future research plans. Their reports concerning cutting-edge global technologies and research hotspots meet SSE’s needs for development. After the presentations, experts and young scholars engage in heated discussions on their reports. In the following session, more discussions will be held with prospective scholars for future collaboration and recruitment.
The subforum serves as a platform for outstanding young scholars to interact and exchange with each other. It enables them to have an overview of SSE and creates opportunities for the school’s talent recruitment.
