Time:December 1, 2024

To enrich students’ extracurricular lives and showcase the vibrant spirit of software students in the new era, the School of Software Engineering (SSE) organized a series of activities for “1024 Programmer’s Day” on October 24. Events included the “Woodpecker Voluntary Laptop Repair,” the fun and interactive “Full of Orange Joy” games, and the intense and exciting Algorithm Programming Competition. The activities attracted a large number of students and faculty, creating a festive celebration filled with technology and fun.

Dedicated Service: Giving Laptops a Boost with the “Woodpecker Voluntary Repair” Activity

On October 20, the SSE Woodpecker Volunteer Team hosted a voluntary laptop repair activity in the public room on the third floor of Yun Yuan 16. Addressing issues such as slow performance and noisy fans, the volunteers provided a range of services, including system optimization, hardware cleaning, and hard drive upgrades. Their efforts gave faculty and students’ laptops a new lease on life. This activity not only resolved practical issues but also showcased the volunteers’ professional technical skills and spirit of selfless dedication.

Full of Orange Joy: Capturing the Lucky “1024”

Playing on the homophone of “orange” (橙) and “programming” (程), the “Full of Orange Joy” activity featured a simple yet exciting game: participants had to capture a screenshot when the number on the screen reached exactly 1024 as it incremented from zero. This lighthearted challenge engaged everyone, with participants enthusiastically vying to capture the lucky number and win fresh oranges and exquisite prizes.
