School of Software Engineering Hosts Hubei Province's First "Artificial Intelligence Trainer" Training Course

Time:November 28, 2024

On April 13, 2024, at the New Energy Research Institute of Future Science and Technology City, the "Artificial Intelligence Trainer" training course, organized by the Wuhan Software Industry Association and hosted by the School of Software Engineering, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), officially commenced. Wang Shixian, Party Secretary of the School, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. This session marks Hubei Province's first offline "Artificial Intelligence Trainer" training course.

In his speech, Wang Shixian emphasized leveraging the School's research and faculty advantages in artificial intelligence. He highlighted that the training course aims to assist in cultivating talents and advancing the industrial development of the AI sector in Hubei Province.

The training course received guidance from the Hubei Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security, Wuhan Software Industry Association, Wuhan Artificial Intelligence Industry Alliance, and support from many prominent AI enterprises in Wuhan. The 40-hour course covers topics including professional awareness of AI trainers, AI algorithms, technologies and applications, Python tools, practical AI exercises, algorithm training, and intelligent system design. Faculty from the School of Software Engineering delivered the lectures. The inaugural session enrolled over 100 participants and garnered significant public attention, with coverage from People's Daily, the official website of the Hubei Provincial Government, Hubei Daily, Jingchu Net, and other media outlets.

The "Artificial Intelligence Trainer" is a new profession officially recognized in 2021 by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the State Administration for Market Regulation, and the National Bureau of Statistics. It has become a part of the national vocational skills standards. An AI Trainer refers to a professional who uses intelligent training software for database management, algorithm parameter setting, human-computer interaction design, performance testing, and other auxiliary tasks during the practical use of AI products. As artificial intelligence continues to expand across various fields, the demand for data annotation professionals and senior AI trainers is growing rapidly. According to a survey by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, China's AI talent gap has reached 5 million.

In the future, the Wuhan Software Industry Association and the School of Software Engineering at HUST will continue promoting training programs for senior AI trainers. Leveraging the teaching advantages of HUST, they aim to establish a triadic ecosystem based on "industry clusters," "technology research institutes," and "industry talent training bases," founded on AI basic data services. By enhancing capabilities in custom software platform development for AI data processing, end-to-end intelligent production management solutions, AI sensing and recognition algorithm development, algorithm model training, custom data set services, and high-precision map data services, the initiative seeks to build systematic AI data solutions for fields like AI, intelligent connected vehicles, industrial manufacturing, smart security, new retail, healthcare, and finance. The effort aims to enable AI trainers to provide precise and tailored services to clients while meeting the unique needs of various enterprises through improved service processes and quality systems.
