On March 28, the "Preparing for Tomorrow" overseas exchange sharing session was successfully held in Room 801b of the School of Software Engineering. The event featured guest speakers including Ms. Dai Shuqiong from the Student Exchange Services Center of the International Exchange Office, Ms. Li Rong, the Chinese representative of the 3+1 joint undergraduate-master's program with the University of Bristol, and two outstanding undergraduate students from the class of 2020, Cao An and Li Zenan. They shared their experiences and insights about overseas exchange programs with students from the School.
During the session, Ms. Dai Shuqiong provided a detailed introduction to the university’s international exchange programs, with a particular focus on the N+N program and its unique advantages. This program allows students to secure their spots at partner universities in advance, avoiding the complexities of later application processes, while offering the opportunity to earn degrees from two different universities. Additionally, the fifth-year flexible setup enables students to seamlessly switch between domestic and international high-quality educational resources. Ms. Dai also presented popular exchange opportunities in Europe, the United States, and Asia, giving students diverse options for studying abroad.
Ms. Li Rong elaborated on the comprehensive strengths of the University of Bristol, introducing various programs and detailing the admissions and application processes. She encouraged HUST students to actively apply and shared information on the development and employment outcomes of program participants.
Cao An and Li Zenan, exemplary students from the class of 2020, shared their personal experiences in applying for study abroad programs. Using their journeys as examples, they provided in-depth analyses of the application process, offering practical tools and strategies for selecting schools. They emphasized the importance of preparing application materials and shared effective techniques for doing so. They also outlined a timeline for planning study abroad applications based on their own experiences, advising their peers to start early and manage their time wisely. Additionally, they reminded attendees to keep track of application deadlines to avoid missing key opportunities.
This sharing session proved to be an invaluable opportunity for students in the School of Software Engineering. Attendees expressed that learning about these international exchange programs not only broadened their horizons but also clarified their study abroad goals and directions.
