On December 17th, the founding conference of School of Software Engineering (SSE) Branch of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) Alumni Association in Beijing and the first “Software Frontier” forum were held in Beijing. Huang Kunhua, Executive Deputy Secretary-Central Alumni Association of HUST, Zhang Bin, President of HUST Alumni Association in Beijing, Wang Shixian, Party Secretary of SSE, Dean Bai Xiang and Deputy Secretary Xu Jie, etc. attended the conference.

On behalf of the Central Alumni Association of HUST, Huang Kunhua expressed warm congratulations to the establishment of SSE Branch, which marked the increasing perfection of the Beijing Alumni Association work system and the strengthening of the work force of SSE alumni. She hoped that under the guidance of the Beijing Alumni Association, the branch of SSE would actively play the role of a bridge to help our school alumni continue to innovate and progress in their careers, and contribute to the construction of our school into a world-class university.

Zhang Bin, on behalf of the Beijing Alumni Association, extended warm congratulations on the establishment of the SSE Branch. He said that the Beijing Alumni Association will work together with the alumni of SSE to deeply practice the strategic positioning of “serving alumni, serving Alma mater and serving society”, and bring more honors and contributions to the Alma mater and alumni.

Wang Shixian expressed his gratitude to the Central Alumni Association of HUST and the Beijing Alumni Association, summarized the fruitful educational achievements of the SSE in the past 20 years, and looked forward to the development goals and plans of SSE in the new historical period. He said that SSE Branch is the first alumni organization established by the school, and he hoped that the SSE Branch can play a good role as a bridge, become an important platform for alumni, help alumni grow continuously, and contribute to the development of the school.

In his video speech, Professor Chen Chuanbo, the first dean of SSE, fondly recalled the glorious years spent with the students in the start-up and development process of the school, felt sincerely happy for the achievements of the alumni, and hoped that the school and alumni could work together to achieve more brilliant achievements.

At the foundingconference, Zhang Bin read the approval document of the Beijing Alumni Association of HUST on the establishment of the SSE Branch. The Articles of SSE Branch of HUST Alumni Association in Beijing, the list of the first Board of Directors and Supervisors were passed. Huang Kunhua presented the flag to Yue Yifan, the first president of the SSE Branch. Zhang Bin, Wang Shixian and Bai Xiang respectively presented the letter of appointment to the first president and vice president, the first secretary and deputy secretary, and the first chief supervisor and supervisor of the SSE Branch.

In the “Software Frontier” alumni forum, Bai Xiang gave a report entitled “Multimodal large Model Detail Description ability Improvement Method”. He analyzed the new multimodal large model released by his team, Monkey, to improve the capabilities of multimodal large models in terms of improved resolution and improved data.

During the roundtable session, a number of alumni from Microsoft, Jingdong, Harvest Fund and other related business leaders discussed the development trend and application of large model technology. Many alumni, such as CEO and founder from Xianlai Mutual Entertainment, Questionnaire Star, Micro companion, Zhuge Intelligence, discussed the entrepreneurial opportunities in the era of large models.

SSE attaches great importance to alumni work and focuses on cultivating alumni culture. SSE Branch of HUST Alumni Association in Beijingis the first alumni association established by the school, and SSE will further plan and layout the construction of alumni associations around the school, and forge a community of alumni and the school.
