On the afternoon of June 26, 2024, the unveiling ceremony for the “Rail Transit Visual Joint Research Center” was held at the 1002 Academic Lecture Hall in Enming Building, School of Software Engineering, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). The event was attended by Yuan Yongkang, Deputy District Mayor of Hongshan District, Wuhan, Gao Liang, Vice President of HUST, Kong Lingsheng, Party Secretary, Chairman, and CEO of Shenzhou High-Speed Rail Technology Co., Ltd., Wang Xiaoming, General Manager of Wuhan LIDE Measurement and Control Technology Co., Ltd., Li Li, Deputy Director of the Economic Information and Technological Innovation Bureau of Hongshan District, Chen Lei, Secretary of Qingling Street Party Working Committee, Li Guang, Director of Achievement Transformation at the Economic Information and Technological Innovation Bureau of Hongshan District, Guan Xiaoxia, Deputy Director of the Scientific and Technological Development Institute of HUST, Wang Shixian, Party Secretary, Bai Xiang, Dean, Wan Lin, Assistant Dean, and other leaders and guests, along with faculty and student representatives from the School. The ceremony was hosted by Xu Jie, Deputy Party Secretary of the School.
Gao Liang, Vice President of HUST, in his speech, introduced the university’s development status, research achievements, and the School’s disciplinary strengths and advantages. He expressed his expectations for future cooperation with Wuhan LIDE Measurement and Control Technology Co., Ltd. He emphasized that the Joint Research Center should strengthen top-level design, continuously enrich the content of cooperation, actively conduct technological research and application innovations, address key technical challenges, promote industry-university-research cooperation, and ensure the application and promotion of project achievements. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of government support in fostering mutual support between academia and industry.

Professor Tang He, Director of the Joint Research Center, introduced the center and reported on its development plans and objectives. He proposed research ideas and goals addressing the needs of topics such as pre-welding rail damage detection, railway safety monitoring, and abnormal detection of wheelsets during freight train operations. He emphasized that the center will always adhere to the principles of “Digital Rail Transit, Green Smart Development,” empowering AI in the real economy, and generating internationally advanced achievements.
